Coal Miner’s Daughter Meets Erin Brockovich

Cause Celebs

A few years ago, I attended a Society of Environmental Journalists conference in L.A. where, among many topics, we looked at the efficacy of celebrity spokespeople.  Ed Begley Jr., Ted Danson, and a few other tree-hugging B-listers participated in a discussion panel which, though fascinating, came up with no broad conclusions.  The most we could say is that celebrities get attention, but is it effective?
